Based in Leipzig and Berlin, Germany, The Tiller & the Tide is a four-piece band that blends acoustic and atmospheric elements to create songs infused with fragility and power, melancholy and beauty.

Austrian singer/guitarist Robert Eder and Australian guitarist Stephen Willis have been writing songs together for many years and in several guises, but it wasn’t until they stumbled across the talented German rhythm section of Markus Wagner (bass) and Johannes Sens (drums) that The Tiller & the Tide was born in 2010.

The Tiller & the Tide’s debut album Nero’s Prospect is the product of 18 months of intensive work that saw the band working with renowned German producer Markus Birkle and some of Leipzig’s finest musicians to define and express their unique musical style.

Since the departure of pianist/singer Friederike Bernhardt to pursue her burgeoning career as a theatrical music director, the band has peppered its live performances with special guests – notably  Fidel Castor und Die Transporter’s Johannes Schindler on violin – with the aim of making each concert, be it with the full electric set-up, acoustic set-up or a duo, a unique experience.
